About Sydney Gillentine-Simiyu:

Sydney joined WinterGreen in January 2025, bringing with her a background in writing, editing, and communications. She holds an MA in English Literature and a BFA in Creative Writing, with several nonfiction publications in national and international literary journals. She has also been on staff at multiple literary publications, most recently serving as the Editor-in-Chief of "twoOthree" at The University of Texas at Arlington. There, she helped relaunch and rebrand the journal, paving the way for future students to gain hands-on editorial experience.

Originally from a small town in East Texas, Sydney moved to DFW in 2021. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband and their cat, and she frequently unwinds by going on walks. You can often find her at a local coffee shop with friends, enjoying a few unplugged hours of fellowship after work. On her free days, Sydney enjoys reading, crafting, playing board and video games, and discovering new recipes to try.
